"Two Moons Have Been Shining All Along" is a video installation, part of the exhibition "This shore is a body is a world is a house" at Stewart Hall Art Gallery, in Pointe Claire, Quebec
In Two moons have been shining all along, the artist revisits images shot in Beirut, Lebanon, more than a decade ago. The country’s history, punctuated by cycles of violence, serves as the backdrop for the video.
A tide rises on both sides of the shore, erasing the demarcation between ground and water. The sea seems to swallow everything in its path, including the city on the horizon. The soundtrack, paired with the back-and-forth movement of the waves, conveys a kind of vibration, a tension. The prophetic nature of the piece oscillates between a curse and a lifesaving tabula rasa.
